About the 2024 Conference

The 2024 National Research Conference for the Prevention of Firearm-Related Harms was held on December 9-11, 2024, in Seattle, WA. The conference highlighted the current state of science and research on firearm injury prevention across the lifespan, and featured a Keynote Speech by Tanya L. Sharpe, MSW, PhD (Associate Professor, Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto; Endowed Chair in Social Work in the Global Community; Founder & Director of The Centre for Research & Innovation for Black Survivors of Homicide Victims (The CRIB)).

Over the last two years, the inaugural leadership team of the Society had included its President, Dr. Sonali Rajan, Secretary, Dr. Jesenia Pizarro, and Treasurer Dr. Marc Zimmerman. At this year’s conference closing session, the incoming leadership team for 2025-2026 were officially announced. This new leadership includes President, Dr. Jesenia Pizarro, Secretary, Dr. Terry Richmond, and Treasurer, Dr. Daniel Semenza.
