The purpose of this new Society is to promote and support rigorous research and the evaluation of evidence-based practices to prevent firearm-related harms across the life course.
MISSION
The goals of the society are to:
Promote interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary scientific research;
Advance firearm-related harm prevention research and validate and establish this field as a viable career path;
Nurture and support the next generation of researchers in this field;
Build interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary collaborations across the U.S. and internationally;
Commit to increasing opportunities and support for researchers from communities and populations affected by firearm-related harms, as well as creating specific opportunities for researchers from underrepresented populations.
Organize and support an annual scientific professional conference that highlights rigorous peer-reviewed scientific research and evidence-based practice
